Will and Jeannie and run a small, self sufficient pig farm in Stoodleigh near Tiverton, producing top quality pork. They are best known for their bespoke sausages, having won the Champion Sausage with Taste of the West, (the biggest and most prestigious regional food and drink competition in the UK) for 4 years running, since they began in 2012. In 2014 they took the Champion Product of the entire competition with the Butcher’s Classic Pork Sausage, their biggest and most proud moment yet! This year they have two out of three sausages in the final, so fingers crossed they’ll win five-in-a-row!
They breed and rear all their own stock, a hickle-pickle of old breeds, mainly Gloucester Old Spot, Saddle Back, and Welsh, crossed with their Pietrain x Duroc boar, “Mouse”! They keep eight sows; Poppet, Hetty Huffle-Puff, Milly, Myfanwy, C.J. (named Collar Joint as a piglet as she has a lovely set of shoulder!), Dog, Shy and Bear!
“Producing the best, is extremely hard work, but immensely satisfying. It’s a lifestyle, but we love what we do and are very passionate about the pigs and our produce.” – Will and Jeannie
They do all their own butchering, hand make the sausages, home cure bacon and hams and do all the packaging themselves in a small cutting room here on the farm.
During the last 4 years they have scooped some 40 awards, over 30 of these are Gold Awards, given for various sausages, joints, bacon, black pudding and burgers. They supply B&Bs , hotels, pubs and restaurants all over the south west, and have a lovely, supportive customer base at Minehead Farmer’s Market every Friday. Locals and holidaymakers come to the farm to buy direct and we also run a courier service for those further afield.
